Happy Monday! And Happy Labor Day! If you have the day off I hope you’re enjoying the long weekend!
We are now getting to the part of the year where summer is ending and work or school is picking up. If you’re anything like me, this can be pretty overwhelming, and sometimes just trying to keep up can be a struggle. So today I thought I would give you some tips on how to keep up with life and maybe even get a little ahead.
1. MAKE A TO-DO LIST FOR EVERY DAY
I keep a little notebook in my bag at all times so I’m ready to jot down whatever it is that I need to do or remember. And once I complete something I cross it off in red ink. It’s very satisfying, and makes me feel productive, no matter the size of the task.
2. MEAL PREP
Now you don’t need to actually meal prep every single meal for the week, but having a generally idea of what you want to eat every day is a great time saver. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come home and spent hours just trying to decide what to eat or make for dinner. At the start of the week make a list of foods or meals you’d like to eat, that way you always have something to refer to when you’re brain just can’t.
3. SCHEDULE FREE TIME
I know this one sounds strange, but I find it so helpful. By dedicating a chunk of free time, or social time in my calendar, I don’t have to worry about getting behind or procrastinating for too long. In addition, I feel completely present in whatever activity I’m doing because I’m not worried about other tasks, or things I have to remember.
4. SIMPLIFY YOUR STUFF
The less stuff you have the less you have to keep track of. This summer I purged nearly all of my closet, so a) I could make room for new clothes, and b) so I could simplify my wardrobe and create a sort of daily uniform for myself. While I may have less to chose from, I find it so much easier to get dressed in the morning because I know every piece that’s in my closet. The same goes for the rest of the random things you may own. Just stick to what you know you need.
5. DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP
It’s okay if you’re not perfect, if you don’t follow your task list to a T, or if you accidentally waste the day sleeping. Give yourself a break, and know that each day is a new beginning.
I hope you find these little tips helpful. Now it's time to kick ass!
