As I get older, and semi-emerse myself in the real “adult” world, summers become less and less of a vacation, and more of an opportunity to be productive, and actually attempt to get ahead in life. With a summer class and an internship, there’s hardly any time to take a proper break, however, I recently went on a weekend getaway to Ojai. I had such a wonderful four days at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa that I thought I’d share my experience with you guys! Ojai is the perfect weekend getaway for anyone in the Los Angeles area who just wants to get out of the city for a bit (it’s literally just an hour and a half drive!). Scroll down to get a little taste of my weekend in heaven.
BY THE POOL
I just realized I don’t have a picture of the actual pool, but don’t worry, it’s still just as beautiful as the deck that surrounds it. My favorite part about the pool area besides its gorgeous panoramic views of the mountains, are the little shady seating areas. While they do offer proper cabanas you can reserve (usually for larger groups like bridal showers, engagement parties, birthdays, etc.,) there are love seats and chairs that sit perfectly under the shade, providing a great area to grab a bite or drink.
UNDER THE LIGHTS
Diner (or lunch) at The Oak is simply beautiful. The patio is the ideal place to dine, if you’re looking for a romantic, dreamy atmosphere. The giant oak trees surrounding the patio have the most beautiful lights hanging from them (my pictures don’t do this place justice), that I just couldn’t take my eyes off of. Though it’s not pictured, the food was amazing as well. I ordered the scallops, but also had bites of the roasted chicken, and the salmon, all of which were marvelous (why am I using words like marvelous? I sound like an old lady haha). Oh, one last thing. The bread rolls. I resisted eating any processed carbs the whole trip, until the final diner when I just couldn’t help myself to one of the fluffy, buttery dinner rolls. I don’t care if you’re not doing carbs, if you’re on paleo, or whatever: eat the damn bread rolls. Trust me.
Basically, every square inch of this property is beautiful. The landscaping is filled with flowers and lavender, providing a very calm and relaxing experience. In addition, taking a walk or bike ride into town is a fun way to explore the area. My favorite place in town was a Kombucha Bar called Revel. This place had delicious Kombucha on tap, so if you’re a health nerd like me, I definitely recommend stopping in for a drink!
Although I wasn't able to cover everything, I hope this mini review was helpful in some way! I had such a great time in Ojai, and I guarantee you will too! Whether you’re making a golf trip, special dinner, or weekend getaway Ojai provides the perfect getaway for any occasion.
